about kate.

My therapeutic style is primarily psychoanalytic, and one built on a belief in the inherent sanity of each person. When we pathologise our thoughts, feelings, reactions and resistances, dismiss our dreams and hunches, or suppress our symptoms with too much sedation or distraction, we lose precious information about what’s actually going on, what we know without knowing, and how to get to where we really belong. We are brilliantly allergic to what isn’t right for us, and by deeply investigating our suffering and our symptoms - that is to say, our madness - we can gradually seek out our rightful place in the world.

This framework can support those who struggle with a wide range of the challenges of being human, including depression or anxiety, loneliness or conflict, grief, low motivation or a lack of direction, or the aftermath of trauma or a ‘spiritual emergency’. It can also be useful for those with difficulties less commonly discussed in clinical spaces - existential concerns, infidelity, prolonged experiences of unrequited love, or a feeling of being alien/different. I have a particular interest in supporting artists and helping professionals. I also treat individuals in sensitive or high-profile roles for whom discretion is of the highest priority.
